The date was fixed but the project including renovations and additions for the Grey Cup was well behind schedule. Fortunately the Team at Genesis was able to put enough resources to the project when it counted to get the job done. The project included digital signage, emergency evacuation system, audio, video, and a high definition television network that had to operate on the facility’s existing coaxial cable. “The project was challenging from both a technical and scheduling standpoint,” stated Genesis National Sales Manager Kevin McKay.
The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club and the City of Edmonton were very familiar with Genesis and the quality of work and project management that could be expected. Genesis had been part of a Team that replaced the sound system, Sony Jumbotron, and broadcast studios for the 2001 World Track and Field Games.
“I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your assistance and patience while working together to make the 98th Grey Cup in Edmonton a technical success,” stated J. Spencer Brawner with the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club after the big game. “I appreciate the opportunity to work with all of you,” he added.
The complexity of the systems installed were contrasted by the ease of use for the operators. “There are a few companies that can design and install complex systems in a facility the size of Commonwealth Stadium,” noted Genesis Project Manager Keith Ilesic, “There are very few who can make that system easy to use for the owner and that is where our people excel.”
